Saltville - Decommisining of Olin May 1972
THESE ROTARY DRIERS ROTATED AND DRYED THE SODA ASH AND MOST OF THE TIME THERE WAS A SNOWSTORM OF ASH COMING FROM AROUND IT FILLING THE FLOOR UNDERNEATH. THE ASH THAT LEAKED OUT WOULD BE SHOVELED UP AND ROLLED BY WHEELBARROW TO THE DIRTY ASH POT, COOKED AND SENT TO THE CAUSTIC SHED.

THERE WAS NOTHING QUITE LIKE THE DRY SIDE OF OLIN'S AMMONIA SODA DEPARTMENT. Courtesy of Don Smith dsmith1043@comcast.net
