Funeral Wednesday
Last rites were conducted Wedesday at Piney Ridge church for Columbus
C. Woodie, 74, resident of the Reddies River community who died Monday.
Rev. Wade Houck and Rev. Harrison Miller officiated at the service.
Surviving Mr. Woodie are his wife, Mrs. Effie Woodie; three daughters, Mrs.
Stella Ashley of Wilbar, Mrs. Ada Stanley of Wilksboro route one, Mrs.
Minnie Ingram of Indiana: two brothers and four sisters, May Woodie of
Idlewood, Jake Woodie of Mountain View, Mrs. Dianna Bare Beshears and
Mrs. Minnie Mash of Obids, Mrs. Ellen Ashley of Millers Creek, Mrs. Vira
Shepherd of Wilbar.
He is buried at the Woodie cemetary on highway 18 near "The Jumping off place." Right there at the Ashe/Wilkes line.
