Edward Benny Yarber Sr., age 64, of Glade Spring, died Friday, June 13, 1997 in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Washington County, was self-employed and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include four sons, Edward B. Yarber Jr., and John Yarber, both of Abingdon, William Yarber, Meadowview, and Michael Yarber, Essex, Md.; four daughters, Rita Crosswhite and Judy Crosswhite, both of Meadowview, Debbie Buckles, Abingdon, and Kimberly Yarber, Jacksonville, Fla.; his mother, Bessie Yarber, Glade Spring; six brothers: Jimmy Yarber, Bristol, Tenn., Joe Yarber, Frank Yarber, Riley Yarber and Carter Yarber, all of Glade Spring, and Leonard Yarber, Emory; four sisters: Betty Blevins, Bristol, Tenn., Rosemary O'Quinn and Linnie Litton, both of Meadowview, and Lulabelle Delp, Glade Spring; 19 grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, June 16, in Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery with military rites conducted by Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post 6975.

Yarborogh
Ben Yarborogh, age 63, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Ohio.
He was born July 8, 1935 in Glade Spring, the son of Lonnie and Ethel (Cornett) Yarber. He owned B. Yarborogh Conveyor Belting.
Surviving are his wife, Sherry Lu Heselton Yarborogh; two daughters, Melody Zitter of Helena, Ohio, and Terri Conners of Fremont, Ohio; two sons, Jeremy and Jamie Yarborogh, both of Fremont, Ohio; two sisters, Dolly Johnson of Bristol, Tenn., and Pat Barrett of Marion; one brother, Paul Yarber of Marion; his mother, Ethel Yarber of Marion; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 11, at 10:30 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Ohio.

Leslie Jane Berg Yates, 47, was remembered at a vigil service held March 6 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass was held today at the Catholic Church of St. Francis.
Mrs. Yates was born in Ashland, Ky. to Leslie Thomas and Lorine McComis Berg.
She is survived by her parents; her husband, George Yates; one son, Michael Edward Yates, West Jefferson; one daughter, Shannon Gale Yates, West Jefferson; one brother, James Michael Berg, Covington, Ky.

Bessie E. (Mam-Maw) Blevins Yates, age 82, of Saltville, and formerly of Anawalt, W.Va., died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999 at Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Yates was born Feb. 6, 1917 in Smyth County, the daughter of the late Furches S. Blevins and Nonnie Collins Blevins. She had been a resident of Saltville for 25 years and was a retired school teacher having taught in McDowell County, W.Va., and Smyth County school systems. She was a graduate of Gary High School and Concord College and was a daughter of the Long Point Missionary Baptist Church at Spencer Curve in Anawalt, W.Va. and a member of the Chatham Hill Independent Missionary Baptist Church in Chatam Hill.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Barnett Yates; on son, Jack Yates; and three sisters, Gertrude Goins Cooper, Ola Shew and Irene Overbaugh.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Yates and wife Mildred of Saltville; a foster son, Roger Wooldridge of Saltville; one brother, Larry Blevins and Altis of Tazewell; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; special niece, Vivian Dotson, Charlottesville; special daughter-in-law, Vivian Farmer and husband Donnie of Anawalt, W.Va.; special brother-in-law, J.C. Yates and wife Irene of Anawalt, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Long Point Missionary Baptist church at Spencer Curve, Anawalt, W.Va., with the Rev. Charles Blevins and the Rev. Donnie Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.

Sadie Marie York, age 75, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997 at her home in Twining, Mich.
She was born July 4, 1921 in Marion to James and Berta Starling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey York; one daughter, Sharon York; one brother, Ralph; and two sisters, Edna and Ruby.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Parker, Turner, Mich.; three sons, Ronald York, Hohenwald, Tenn., Jonathan York, Durand, Mich., and Jeffery York, Midland, Mich.; four sisters, Ruth Potter, Lillian Bush, Barbara Hutton and Iva Bradley, all of Marion; three grandchildren, Rebecca Cottrell, Kirk York and Eric York.
Funeral services will be conducted today, June 28, at 10 a.m. in the Forshee Funeral Home in Twining, Mich. Interment will follow in the Cedar Valley Cemetery.

Katherine (Pat) Parks York, age 82, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001 at her home in Bristol.
Mrs. York was the daughter of the late Victor Harrison and Mary Elizabeth Wilkinson Parks of Chilhowie. She moved to Bristol in 1961, and was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church where she also worked. She was retired from Whitten Electric Co.
She is survived by two daughters, Sidny Hieronymus of Atlanta, Ga., and Susanna York of Orange; three sons, Victor Carroll York of Houston, Texas, Lawrence York of Lexington, Ky., and Patrick York of Lenoir City, Tenn.; nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas A. Ianucei and the Rev. Mr. Harry Hall officiating. Interment followed in the Glenwood Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to St. Anne's Catholic School.

Edith Fudge Shelton Young, age 77, of Salem, formerly of Smyth County, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998 in a Salem hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Lester Hardin (Sam) Young of Salem; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth E. and Eileen Shelton, and Gregory Wade and Joan Shelton, all of Roanoke; one grandson, William Linden (Lin) Shelton; two great-grandchildren, Brock and Brooke Shelton, Chilhowie.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. James K. Jett officiating. Interment was in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke.

Mr. Armond Darrell Young, age 84, of Grassy Creek died Tuesday, Feb. 27, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Home Baptist Church with Rev. Julian Owen, Rev. David Testerman and Rev. Rick Cornejo officiating. Burial followed in the Waddell Cemetery in Grassy Creek with masonic rites. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel in Jefferson.
Mr. Young was born in Ashe County on Jan. 24, 1917 to the late Irvin Ruben and Mary Alice Waddell Young. He was a veteran of the US Army during World War II, past master of Mouth of Wilson Masonic Lodge number 223, and a member for 47 years. Since 1940, he was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Grassy Creek.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Decker Young; two sons, Jerry Young of Crumpler and Kenneth Young of Grassy Creek; three daughters, Freda Porter of West Jefferson, Sandra Young and Debra Roten, both of Crumpler; one brother, Stanley Young of Grassy Creek; one sister, Pauline Walters of Grassy Creek; 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wanda Weaver Young, age 75, of the Mt. Pleasant Nursing Home, Wilkesboro, NC, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, in the Wilkes Regional Medical Center in Wilkesboro, NC. She is survived by one brother: Rev. James Weaver of Wilkesboro, NC; four sisters: Mary Lee Landreth of Wilkesboro, NC; Patsy Irwin of Sparta, NC; Judy Combs of Wilkesboro; and Mozelle Settle of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service Monday, March 20, 2000, at 2:00 PM at the Elk Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Grandview Memorial Funeral Home is in Charge of the Funeral arrangements.

Betty Gray Young, age 63, died Thursday, July 20, 2000.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jettie Anderson Young, and her father, Oscar M. Young.
She is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Cletia and Glenn Moore and Anna L. Young, all of Marion; two aunts, Wave Anderson and Minnie Berry; nieces and nephews, Brenda Moore Boone, Glen and Gerri Moore, Mark and Patty Moore, all of Marion, Bobby and Kathy Sullivan of Troutdale, Bradley and Cindy Moore of Repton, Ala.; 11 great- nieces and nephews; seven great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today, July 22, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Charles DeHart officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

John Charles Zingale, age 34, died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Zingale; his grandparents, Estel and Mattie Hutton; and his brother, James Joseph Zingale.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Betty and Thomas Harrison of Marion; two sisters, Laura Dygert of Charleston, S.C., and Christy Robin Campbell of Marion; one uncle, Carl Hutton, Marion.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Mike Sage and the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial followed in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
