A funeral for Ruby Eastridge McPhatter, 89, of Fredericksburg, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Found & Sons Funeral Home, Fredericksburg, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Fredericksburg. The Rev. Roby H. Eastridge and the Rev. Steven Bird will officiate.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. McPhatter died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at Mary Washington Hospital.
A native of Creston, N.C., she was a member of St. Matthias United Methodist Church in Stafford County and a former volunteer for Hotline in Fredericksburg.
Mrs. McPhatter is survived by her husband, Chesley McPhatter; a son, Chesley F. McPhatter Jr. of Madison Heights; two daughters, Barbara M. Kendall and Annette M. Johnson, both of Fredericksburg; two brothers, Joseph E. Eastridge of Fredericksburg and Dewey P. Eastridge of Beaverdam; three sisters, Grace E. Knight of Spotsylvania, Edith E. Payne of Ladysmith and Blanche E. Scherbarth of Milwaukee, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the St. Matthias United Methodist Church memorial fund, 426 Deacon Road, Fredericksburg, Va. 22405; or Virginia Special Olympics Area 11, Box 199, King George, Va. 22485.

Ruby Marticia Eastridge was the daughter of Ida Mae Osborne and Marvin C Eastridge she was the
granddaughter of Martisha Jane Osborne and Andrew C Eastridge and David L Osborne and E
Marticia Lewis all of Ashe County. Ruby and most of her 10 siblings relocated to the
Fredericksburg, VA area during the depression to work in a factory there. Her parents eventually
followed their children to Virginia.
