Josie Verner (Bartlett) Taylor, 97, died March 19, 1995 in Salem, OR. She was born in Carroll County, VA on Sept. 30, 1897. She was a housewife. She married Osborne in Galax, Va. in 1930. He preceded her in death in 1966. She moved to Oregon in 1959, and had lived in Aumsville for 36 years. She was a member of the South Salem Nazarene Church. Her hobbies included gardening and cooking for her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Lillian Poplin of Aumsville and Thelma Bullins and Gladys Vaughan of Galax, Va.; sons Forrest Taylor of Lacey, Washington, Carroll Taylor and Ralph Taylor, both of Stayton; brothers Gene Bartlett of Sparta, NC; Mack Bartlett and Glen Bartlett both of Galax, VA; sister, Jane Trimble of Galax, VA; 30 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Services were held March 23 in the South Salem Nazarene Church. Interment was in Lone Oak Cemetery in Stayton. The family suggests contributions in her memory be made to the church.
