Mr. A. J. Coomes, a well known citizen of the county, died at his home near Artista, (Ky.) monday afternoon, at 1:30, as a result of a stroke of paralysis from which he had never entirely recovered. He was 66 at the time of his death and had for years been a consistent member of the Baptist Church, and a highly respected citizen of the community in which he lived. He is survived by his widow and seven children: Mrs. Dona Hays, Mrs. Birdie Fender, J. T. Coomes, W. S. and Cleo Coomes all of this county. J. J. Coomes, Seattle, Washington, C. L. Coomes, Nebraska City, Nebr. Funeral services held from the home Wednesday, January 7 conducted by Rev. Crit Harmon, with interment in Brookside.
(Note) Anderson Jasper Coomes was born in Grayson Co, Va.
