Welcome from Jeff Weaver

Welcome to my historical resources page for the Upper New River Valley of North Carolina and Virginia. (Ashe, Alleghany, Watagua and Wilkes County, North Carolina and Grayson County, Virginia; other parts of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee).

The information found in this site is organized in two ways, first chronologically. Items which are time specific are presented first in chronological order. Information which is not strictly related to time is presented following that information on a subject by subject basis.

I think you will be well pleased with the amount of information contained in this site. I am constantly striving to add new materials. If you have materials that would be of benefit to the users of this site, send a message to Jeff Weaver.

What's Happening

We have a house cleaning project under way. With several thousand files and links on this site this project will be underway for quite awhile. In fact with the many links to external sites it will be a never ending process. So please be patient. Also you may be able to help us.

A major task, and one that will never end, is maintaining external links. These are links to other sites of interest to New River Notes researchers. Since a site can move, reorganize, or just disappear we need to go through all of the files on this site and check the links. Fortunately there are programs that can help this. Unfortunately they seldom tell you what happened to the site.

If you know the new address for any broken link please e-mail the web guy with the updated information. Also if you have any suggestions for additional or better sites that should be added let us know. All help in maintaining this site is appreciated.

Contact Jeff Weaver if you have questions about the content of this site or would like to contribute to the site.
